Introduction

My field of interest resides in being an art educator. I'm currently in Senior standing and will be graduating this Spring Semester (woo!). My plan/goal is to make it into the credential program for the following term. Why be an art educator? Personally, I wouldn't consider myself an artist without the help of my peers and educators. Not necessarily saying that artist can't be self taught, rather it is important to create an environment that encourages creativity and to allow for progression to those that do not have that privilege. As an art educator, I plan to encourage the new perspective for the upcoming generation of artists, Art opens a new path in connecting others with the real world.

However, I will continue to work as a freelance artist. I have a strong emphasis on illustration and painting. Mediums that I often work with are graphite and oil paints. I've been illustrating for as long as I can remember, but most recently began experimenting with painting. Most of my work has a nature theme or relation to it in some way. Hence, my interest in a more Eco-friendly environment and all that "hippie" stuff. Although my strong assets rely on illustrating and painting, my thrive is to learn and adapt to every art field in order to expand my knowledge/skills.

Along the way I would like to involve myself into the digital world (graphic/web design) which is why I'm taking this course. I'm fairly familiar with Photoshop/Illustrator and coding, however, I have to refine those skills. I do believe that technology is a new form that is rapidly changing the way we see the world. As artist I believe we all should be resourceful and take advantage of what art is and can be.
